The course examines how the institutional setting shapes the process of decision-making and the incentives that it generates for decision makers that generate economic outcomes. The first part of the course studies how different political systems (forms of government and electoral regimes) can generate similar or different economic policies. The second part takes into consideration the role of labour market institutions as factors determining the aggregate performance of labour markets.
